FUNCTIONAL THERAPY
TMJ Disorders, Headache and Muscular Pain

We Treat Your Jaw Joint Problems!

Functional disorders of the masticatory system can significantly impact daily life. These issues often originate in the jaw joint (TMJ), masticatory muscles, bite alignment, cervical spine, or shoulder area. Depending on the cause, they are classified as:
✔ Myopathy – muscle-related issues
✔ Arthropathy – jaw joint-related disorders
✔ Myoarthropathy – a combination of both
Fortunately, the prognosis for myoarthropathies of the masticatory system is generally good, especially with early and targeted intervention.

Symptoms & Causes
The most common symptom is pain, but patients may also experience:
✔ Clicking or grinding noises in the jaw joint (with or without pain)
✔ Restricted or painful mouth opening
✔ Tension headaches associated with jaw issues
✔ Muscle tightness or discomfort, often due to teeth grinding, tongue pressing, or lip biting (so-called "parafunctional habits")
Women aged 25-50 are most commonly affected, though cases in children and adolescents have increased in recent years.

Our Treatment Approach
Our therapy focuses on:
✔ Relieving strain on the masticatory system
✔ Teaching a relaxed lower jaw posture

✔ Reducing harmful habits (e.g., teeth grinding, tongue pressing
✔ Combining therapy with physiotherapeutic support
Many patients experience significant relief with minimally invasive treatments alone. If you're struggling with jaw discomfort, tension, or pain, schedule a consultation with us—we are here to help!
